Planned Giving

YOUR GIFT MATTERS

Generosity comes in many forms and helps you leave your lasting legacy in a manner meaningful to you. When you give to the Seabee Historical Foundation, you help us make a difference.

YOU DECIDE HOW TO GIVE

There are many ways to make a legacy gift that allow you to provide for your family and support the Foundation. Following are several options you might consider.

POPULAR WAYS TO MAKE A PLANNED GIFT

Wills and Living Trusts

The easiest way to make a legacy gift is to name the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation in your will or living trust. A bequest affords you the ability to make an impact gift while preserving your assets during your lifetime. It is flexible and can be changed if your life circumstances change. You can make a bequest by either designating a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular piece of real estate or tangible property. If you already have a will or trust, your attorney can add a simple amendment to it. If you are considering a bequest, the official bequest language for the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation to share with your attorney is:

“I, [name], of [city, state ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

Beneficiary Designations

Designating the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan assets or life insurance plan is a terrific way to make a legacy gift while maintaining flexibility. It’s easy to do too! Simply contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form. Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form. Then return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

If you have a loved one who has been shaped by their experience in the Seabees or CEC, establishing a memorial or tribute gift to the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation is a meaningful way to honor your loved one. Your gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Common vehicles for tribute gifts include cash, appreciated securities, real estate or tangible property.

Charitable Lead Trusts

You can benefit from the tax savings that result from supporting the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation without giving up the assets that you’d like your family to receive someday with a donation in the form of a charitable lead trust. Contact your attorney or financial advisor to learn more about Charitable Lead Trusts.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

If you have built a sizable estate and are also looking for ways to receive reliable payments, consider a charitable remainder trust. At the end of the trust term, the balance in the trust goes to the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation. These types of gifts may offer you tax benefits and the option for income. Contact your attorney or financial advisor to learn more about this giving vehicle to determine if this might be the best choice for you!
