The U.S. Navy Seabee Museum
Why a new vision?

Since its inception, the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum quickly became a pilgrimage site for Seabees and their families. The current U.S. Navy Seabee Museum is located in a purpose-built museum facility that opened in 2011. Visitors will learn the history and heritage of the U.S. Navy Seabees and Civil Engineer Corps through immersive and interactive exhibits that complement the innovative architecture and its state-of-the-art capabilities and provide cohesive storylines and messages. With the inclusion of a dedicated Museum Education Room and a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) educational space, the museum will be more accessible to a greater number of both Navy and community stakeholders.

Located outside of the adjacent military installation’s perimeter, the museum maximizes the ability of the U.S. Navy to interact with the American people in an exciting new venue. Additionally, the new vision will include a more developed gallery dedicated to the Seabees who supported the Global War on Terror from September 11, 2001, through August 2021.

By emphasizing the humanitarian and non-combatant actions of the Seabees, the new museum vision creates a paradigm for a military museum that will appeal to a broader domestic and international audience.
